Netflix has released the first trailer for House of Guinness, the new show from the creator of Peaky Blinders. Steven Knight's new show focuses on the 19th-century family behind the titular brewing company after the death of the patriarch who created the business. House of Guinness' eight-episode season is scheduled to premiere on September 25.
The show's development was announced in early 2024, being one of multiple projects he was working on, which also included the period boxing drama A Thousand Blows and Elisabeth Moss-led The Veil. Furthermore, House of Guinness serves as part of Knight's ongoing collaboration with Netflix after the acclaimed Peaky Blinders and its upcoming movie continuation.
Now, with less than a month until its debut, Netflix has released the official House of Guinness trailer. The footage offers a proper look at Knight's new period drama, including the familial conflicts over running the titular business empire, as well as the external forces vying for control over them. Check out the trailer below:
What This Trailer Means For House Of Guinness
Netflix's promotional material for House of Guinness hints at the new show feeling like it is influenced by some truly fantastic series. Most obviously, the period crime drama seems to feature the incredible acting, sets, and production value that Peaky Blinders had. House of Guinness also features a storyline about kids fighting for their father's empire that brings Succession to mind.
House of Guinness' trailer also indicates that the show will also focus on societal issues from the past that can be compared to what the world is going through today. It certainly wouldn't be the first time Knight has done so in his shows, as the Oscar nominee has often seen acclaim for blending period drama with modern themes.
Our Take On House Of Guinness' Potential
When it was announced that the architect of Peaky Blinders was launching a new show, I was extremely interested. Still, based on the fact that some showrunners from the past have wound up being one-hit wonders, I was still far from certain the show would be great, despite having high hopes.
Of course, trailers are designed to make a show or movie look great. As a result, House of Guinness having an epic trailer doesn't necessarily mean the show will be excellent. However, given how magnificent the trailer is and the fact that the show was created by the person who crafted Peaky Blinders, I can't wait for its premiere.
