Screen Rant is thrilled to share an exclusive first look at the latest Expanse sequel comic from Boom! Studios, A Little Death. The beloved sci-fi franchise has continued to grow beyond the confines of the TV series, a project that continues with this new miniseries, which continues the story from the previous Boom! series The Expanse: Dragon’s Tooth.
Exclusive: The Expanse Returns With A New Canon Comic Follow-Up To The TV Series
The Expanse: A Little Death, By The Creative Team Of Wes Chatham, Andy Diggle, And Francisco Pisa
If the name of author Wes Chatham sounds familiar, it is because fans saw it in the credits for The Expanse; Chatham played Amos Burton on all six seasons of the show. Now, he continues to play a pivotal role in the franchise by penning A Little Death, his debut as a comic author.
A Little Death pairs him with Andy Diggle, who wrote Dragon’s Tooth, the previous comic book sequel to the TV series. Crucially, the creative team continues to work under the auspices of Expanse creator James S.A. Corey, who wrote the original novels The Expanse was based on, and still shepherds the overall direction of the franchise’s canon.
The preview pages for the first issue don’t give away much, but Boom! has already made it clear that Chatham’s character Amos Burton will be at the heart of the story. What is also evident is how carefully everyone involved with the book is handling their role in charting the course of The Expanse moving forward.
The Expanse's Passionate Fans Won't Want To Miss Amos Burton And The Rocinante Crew's Latest Mission
The Expanse: A Little Death Will Be Available In September 2025 From Boom! Studios
During its time on TV, The Expanse developed a reputation for having an incredibly devoted fanbase. The series was canceled after its third season, but was the subject of a rare successful fan campaign to save the show, which ultimately led to three more seasons. The comic follow up Dragon’s Tooth was based, at least partly, on ideas for an unrealized seventh season.
In other words, as far as canon continuations of a TV series go, The Expanse: Dragon’s Tooth and its new follow-up, A Little Death, are as closely tied to the show as it gets. The teaser for the series should whet readers’ appetites for a spectacular new entry in Expanse lore, which will likely contain hints of what’s to come next.
